Brave is built on the premise that you shouldn't have to configure your browser to be private—it should just work. Out of the box, Brave Shields aggressively block third-party trackers, ads, and fingerprinting scripts. This not only protects your data but often makes pages load faster by preventing heavy ad networks from downloading.
Beyond blocking, Brave includes a suite of privacy tools: a built-in firewall + VPN (paid), a privacy-focused search engine, and even a Tor mode for private windows to route traffic anonymously. It allows you to opt-in to privacy-respecting ads in exchange for cryptocurrency rewards, flipping the traditional ad model on its head.
The "crypto" features can feel cluttered to some, though they are easily disabled. Underneath, it runs on Chromium, so all your favorite Chrome extensions work perfectly. If you want the speed and compatibility of Chrome without the Google tracking, Brave is an excellent drop-in replacement.
