Best browser extensions for shopping

The best shopping extensions in 2026: price history trackers and cash back tools, ranked, with how each one makes money and what it collects.

5 extensions includedLast updated November 2026

Most people search for a coupon finder, but the better buy is usually a price tracker. It shows what an item cost last month, so you can tell a real sale from a fake one, and it can email you when the price drops.

Coupon and cash back extensions are a different matter. They earn affiliate commission, and since late 2024 that model has been under fire: Honey was accused of taking commission from creators who had earned it, and Google announced stricter Chrome Web Store rules on affiliate links in March 2025. Every one of the five ranked picks carries a note on how it makes money. Trackers come first, and the one cash back tool comes last.

1.Keepa

Chrome
Firefox
Edge

Keepa gives you the most detailed Amazon price history you can get in a browser. The chart on the product page tells you quickly whether a deal is real. It also has the most privacy history to worry about, so read the last paragraph before you install.

Keepa GmbH, a German company, adds a chart of new, used and warehouse prices, with alerts for a target price or a restock. Its listing says it also tracks Lightning Deals and compares prices across ten Amazon countries. It is free, needs no account to start tracking according to the listing, and works in Chrome, Firefox and Edge.

Keepa is not an affiliate coupon tool, but it does collect data. Its Chrome listing says it handles personally identifiable information and that this is not sold, and that clicks on eBay links in the Keepa Box go through the eBay affiliate program. In 2021 researcher Wladimir Palant found a persistent identifier, reporting of the Amazon pages you viewed and background loading of other Amazon pages. Later notes suggest some of that continued, and we could not confirm what has changed. If you only want a chart now and then, The Camelizer asks for much less.

2.The Camelizer

Chrome
Safari
Opera

The Camelizer is a small, plain price history tool from a long-standing Amazon tracking site. It does less than Keepa, but it asks for far fewer permissions, which makes it a good first install.

It is the extension for camelcamelcamel. Click the camel icon on an Amazon product page to see the price history, or set a watch and get an email when the price drops. Its page lists Amazon in the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia, and says mobile browsers are not supported. The Chrome manifest asks only for activeTab, storage and scripting, and the page says the extension has no advertising, third-party analytics or affiliate links.

Know how it is paid for. The extension is free, but the camelcamelcamel website earns Amazon affiliate commission on purchases made through its links. That income comes from site links you click, not from the extension rewriting links as you shop. The Chrome listing says the extension handles personal information and website content, and it sends the URL of the page you are viewing to its server to work. Recent reviews report the chart stuck loading or empty, so treat it as hit-and-miss and try Keepa if it fails.

3.Distill Web Monitor

Chrome
Firefox
Edge

Distill Web Monitor is not a shopping tool as such, and that is the point. You pick the price on the page and Distill tells you when it changes. It takes more setup than Keepa, but it works on any shop and has no affiliate model to worry about.

Select the price on a product page and save. You get alerts by email, browser notification, phone push, Slack, Discord or webhook, and you can use XPath or CSS selectors if the simple picker fails. Local monitors check from your browser, so they only run while it is open. Cloud monitors run on Distill's servers around the clock. The free plan has 25 monitors, 5 of them in the cloud, with a six-hour minimum interval for cloud checks.

Distill earns from subscription plans, not affiliate commission, and its Chrome manifest does not request the cookies or webRequest permissions that Honey, Coupert and Rakuten request. It does ask for access to all websites, and its Chrome listing says it handles personal and authentication information. Cloud-watched pages pass through Distill's servers. Its privacy policy says it does not rent or sell personal data, and names Google Analytics and Hotjar among its tools. Choose it for shops Keepa skips.

4.Visualping

Chrome

Visualping is an easier on-ramp than Distill. Click it on a page, say what to watch and it handles the rest. It is a general change monitor, not a price comparison tool, so you do the shopping and it does the waiting.

It comes from Webmonitoring Technologies Inc. of Vancouver. You choose how often to check, and when something changes it emails you, with an AI summary of the change in one sentence according to its listing. Price drops and restocks are named as common uses. Local monitors are unlimited and free, and a free account includes 5 cloud monitors. Email, webhooks, Zapier and the API are on every plan, while SMS, Slack and Teams alerts need a paid plan. We found only a Chrome listing.

Visualping earns from paid plans, not affiliate commission. But the extension asks for all sites, tabs, cookies, web navigation and notifications, which is more than a simple price chart needs. The Chrome listing says the data is not sold, yet its privacy policy does not mention AI change summaries or who provides them, so avoid watching pages that show private information. If you only track Amazon, Keepa or The Camelizer is the lighter choice.

5.Rakuten

Chrome
Firefox
Edge

Rakuten is the best-known cash back extension, and more open than the coupon auto-appliers. You see an offer and click to accept it. In return it collects a lot about what you browse and buy, so use it only if you will actually claim the cash back.

Rakuten, formerly Ebates, is a cash back service for US shopping. The extension tells you when a store you visit pays cash back, and you click to activate it before you buy. Its Edge description says it also finds coupons, searches for lower prices and shows cash back rates in Google, Yahoo and Bing results.

Here is how it makes money. Rakuten earns affiliate commission on your purchases and shares part of it as cash back. Its privacy notice, updated 13 March 2026, says accepting an offer overwrites other affiliates' tracking cookies for that store, so a creator who sent you there can lose credit. It also says it collects the products, coupons and merchants you view, and order totals on confirmation pages. Law firms have named Rakuten among extensions accused of redirecting commissions, but those are allegations, not findings.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best price tracker extension?

For Amazon, Keepa has the deepest price history and works on ten Amazon sites, but read its privacy note first. The Camelizer is simpler and asks for fewer permissions. For shops other than Amazon, a page-change monitor such as Distill Web Monitor or Visualping can alert you when a price changes.

Is Honey safe to use?

Honey is not malware, but we do not recommend it. In December 2024 a YouTuber alleged it overwrote creators' affiliate links. Google announced a stricter affiliate policy in March 2025, and a creator lawsuit against PayPal survived a motion to dismiss on 22 June 2026. That ruling is not a finding of liability. Its Chrome rating is about 2.2 from roughly 180,000 ratings.

Do coupon extensions actually save money?

Sometimes, but the codes they find are often the ones already public, and the extension is paid when you buy. A price history chart is a better check on whether a discount is real. If you want cash back, pick one that asks you to activate it and says what it does with affiliate cookies.

What is a good Honey alternative?

That depends on what you used Honey for. For price drops, use Keepa or The Camelizer on Amazon, or a page monitor elsewhere. For cash back in the United States, Rakuten asks you to activate an offer before it sets its affiliate cookie. We do not rank coupon auto-appliers that gave us no clear business-model statement.
