About FireShot

FireShot is the veteran of the group. It captures the full page, the visible part or a selection, and its edge is what you can do with the result. It saves to PDF, PNG or JPEG, copies to the clipboard, prints or attaches to Gmail. It can also capture every open tab in one go, or work through a list of URLs automatically, which suits saving receipts, research or documentation.

Privacy is a selling point. The vendor says captures are made instantly, stored locally and never leave your computer, and that the extension works offline. Its Chrome disclosure says the developer does not collect or use your data. The Chrome version runs on Manifest V3 and was last updated in May 2026. The free version covers the basics. The paid Pro upgrade adds PDFs with live links and text, capture of specific elements, and editing tools such as crop, annotate and blur.

The code is closed. Chrome and Edge are current, but the Firefox listing was last updated in June 2023. The manifest also lists native messaging, and the listing does not say what FireShot uses it for. If your goal is PDFs or batch saving, choose FireShot. If you only need a quick full-page image, GoFullPage is simpler.

Permissions

It uses the active tab and scripting permissions to capture the page, plus storage, alarms and a context menu entry. It also lists native messaging, which lets an extension talk to a program on your computer, and asks for tabs and downloads access as optional permissions.
